Once there was a young lady whose name was Mary. An angel of God appeared to Mary and told her that she was going to have a son and He would be God's son. The angel told her that God said she was to name the baby Jesus. |
Now, Mary was engaged to marry Joseph and they loved each other very much. She told Joseph all about the angel and the message from God. Some people didn't believe it but Joseph did. So, they got married. |

When it was close to time for Jesus to be born, a law was passed to make everyone go to the place of their fathers and pay taxes. That meant they had to go to Bethlehem. The trip was very hard for Mary. It was time for the birth and there was no place for them to stay. |
Finally they were told they could stay in the stables on the edge of town. They made a bed in the hay for Mary. "And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger." He was such a beautiful baby. Mary and Joseph were so happy. |

Then the angels appeared to the shepherds as they watched their sheep that night. And this is what they told the shepherds: "Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." |
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." "And they went with haste,... |

...and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger." And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. |
In the mean time there were 3 wise kings that were watching for the great star that would lead them to Jesus. When they saw it they went to take gifts of gold, incense and myrrh. And there they worshiped Jesus. |
